Chapter 15

Russell looked at me with a knowing smile on his face having heard Eric just tell me we would speak later. For me, thinking on that would need to wait. I needed to focus on the now, and, right now, we were about to start the filming.

I hurried to change the subject. I was still hoping we could talk about our backstory before the scene actually started.

“What do you think about us?” I said.

“I didn’t know you knew him before the filming?”

“What? Oh, no, I didn’t, but I was referring to my character and yours. What is our history? How did you come to own her?”

“Ah, of course,” he laughed, rubbing his hands together gleefully. Apparently, I was not the only one who enjoyed this part of acting.

“Is she your pet?” I asked.

“Good heavens, no, I don’t own her! Aside from the fact that I wouldn’t want a female pet, I am not a vampire who would pass a human pet on to another.”

“OK. So, if she wasn’t a pet, how did she come to be with you?”

“Hmm, I believe I found her…Yes, I was searching for the perfect thing to bring to Eric that would cause him to acquiesce and accept my invitation, and I found you in…a cabaret two nights ago…in Baton Rouge,” he smiled, very pleased with this idea he had created.

“A cabaret? Why not burlesque? You did bring her to solicit something specific from him, right?”

“No, no, you’re right. Cabaret is all wrong, but not burlesque, either. That’s too mundane, too predictable, and too…flashy. I would want to bring him something more…something out of the ordinary…something uncommon. How about this? The room was dimly lit by candles on the tables and walls. I heard your voice from the street, and I knew I had found what I wanted. You were sitting on top of a black grand piano on a small stage, wearing a long, red, velvet dress and high black heels,” he said, setting the scene for us. I giggled.

“No! I was lying across it and wearing long black gloves…but I was barefoot with red toenails that matched the dress! That’s how you knew she was someone out of the ordinary…different!” I added excitedly.

“Even better, I can picture it perfectly,” he said, smiling. “I sent my day man out to buy the dress you are wearing now, which by the way, looks simply sublime with your figure,” he added.

“Really? Thank you! So, how did you convince her to come with you?”

“Glamour, of course!” he supplied as if that was obvious, which I guess it was given that he was supposed to be a vampire. Duh!

“Of course, and when you heard her sing, you knew you she would be the perfect present.”

“Yes, I think that fits nicely, don’t you?”

“It does. Have you fed from her?”

“No, I don’t believe I have. I can’t say the same for what the Sheriff will do with her, although you know that is not the reason I am bringing her,” he said, waggling his eyebrows.

“Right, I’m here to entertain him as a gift,” I blushed.

“It’s a lovely gift, don’t you agree? A gift of song can be very enticing.”

“I suppose so, although you’re giving the person, not the song, as the gift,” I laughed.

“Well, my little Gryllidae, we are vampires after all,” he winked just as the cue came up for our entrance.

~~~
Russell entered the room and I followed ten or so feet behind him. The scene progressed much the same as it had last night. They bantered until Russell cued me forward. I took my place at his side, and he continued to preen and present his ‘gift’ to the Sheriff as before. Tonight, however, had taken on a subtly different tone. Both men remained playful on the outside, but there was a tenuous undercurrent of sobriety. For me, the undercurrent was uncertainty of what was to come. I knew it wouldn’t be long until we hit the mark where we had stopped last night. It came all too soon as the lines were repeated from the night before.
“Ms. Ravenscroft, be a dear, and escort my lovely companion to the stage, would you?” I heard Russell say.
“You’re joking, right? What happened to ‘keeping my hands off’?” She said, staring at him.
Eric had taken his cue and was walking back to his throne when he stopped and glared at her.
“Pamela.”
“Fine!” she scoffed, pushing herself away from the bar and coming toward me.
Eric again offered his throne to Russell, but before he took his own seat he turned toward us. She was reaching her hand out to my arm.
“Do NOT touch her!” they both commanded simultaneously. Well, that was new!
She jumped a little in surprise at their words and looked at Eric. He stood for a moment until she dropped her hand away, never taking his eyes from hers. Once her hand was nowhere near me, he sat. I glanced at Russell and he had a very wide smile on his face.
“What is so rare about her?” Eric asked Russell.
“Hush, Eric! I only just found her and I’m looking forward to this,” Russell replied, shushing him.
Russell seemed to be enjoying this immensely. He had yet to hear me actually sing, so I knew he was playing up the little story we had just created. Eric only quirked an eyebrow, but his friend’s enthusiasm had him smirking when he returned his attention to me.
During their brief conversation, Pam stood next to me and watched them, dumbfounded. She seemed at a loss as to how to proceed. Her character demanded that she treat me the way she had last night, roughly man-handling me to the stage though now she’d been instructed otherwise. It was obvious she was plotting what to do in her mind.
“Buttercup, I apologize, was my request too difficult for you to understand? Escort her to the stage!” Russell hissed.
That brought her out of her stupor as she bowed her head to him.
“Yes, Your Majesty. Follow me,” she said off-handedly to me without making eye contact.
She had recovered from her momentary lapse and was back in character. I followed behind her to the platform where she stepped aside in order for me to take my place on the stage.
“Thank you,” I said quietly.
She stepped in front of me, smiling. She looked at me intently. Finally! We might be having a friendly moment! Locking her eyes with mine, she spoke as quietly as I had.
“I imagine it will be difficult to remember the words to the song, don’t you? This is one of the most important nights of your life. Once your nerves take over, you must sing very loudly to cover that fact. Appear oblivious to the fact that you’ve messed up the words when it happens,” she said.
“This is one of the most important nights for me and I am nervous,” I replied, smiling back at her.
She returned my smile while she stepped back looking quite pleased.
“What doesn’t make sense is why would I forget the words? Even if I did, why pretend to be oblivious? I don’t think the character I am playing is supposed to be an idiot. Besides, this song doesn’t lend itself to being loud just for the sake of being loud. You’ll see what I mean when you hear it,” I explained in a whisper.
Her smile faltered and her brow furrowed. I really did not understand what she had said. It didn’t seem the type of thing my character would do. Why would Russell bring some bumbling amateur to Eric, thinking it would convince him to do something he seemingly didn’t want? That didn’t make sense, and would defeat Russell’s purpose for having brought her. I was still looking at Pam while I pondered her words.
Her head whipped around to look at Eric. He was watching us with a smirk. She looked back at me with a full-blown frown.
“Did Alcee or the director tell you that I should perform that way? Maybe I should ask them for some clarification before I sing?” I whispered.
“No! Don’t say anything!” she whisper-yelled.
Now I was really confused. Was this part of the scene? Should I have answered in character? I began to ask another question, but she ignored me, and turned around to walk over to the dais where Eric and Russell were seated. Once she reached it, she took one step up when Eric subtly shook his head.
She stopped mid-step.
“You may listen at the bar, if you wish, or you may go to your office,” he stated, leaving no room for argument.
She stood staring at him for a brief moment before stepping down and walking over to the doorway that led to the ‘offices’. She stopped at the door and looked to JP. She motioned with her head, and he stood. Eric was watching her actions.
“No,” he said. I saw the word leave his mouth, but he had said it too quietly for me to hear.
She huffed and slammed through the door. JP looked bewildered, shook his head as if to clear it, and sat down again. I wondered if that was what was had originally been written for the scene. JP hadn’t mentioned it. Then again, I still had not read the script.
Alcee, remembering what I had told him the previously, whispered something to the director.
“Cut!” the director called.
“Let’s take ten, people. She needs to warm up,” Alcee said.
~~~

After I had done some quick vocal exercises, the actors had returned and resumed their places around the room. I looked to JP who nodded slightly and gave me a quick ‘thumbs up’.

It was time.

With the camera pointed at me, the director called “Action,” and the music was cued. The other cameras and boom mics were still set up to cover Russell and Eric. I assumed they would have dialogue throughout the song.

I looked at Russell who gave me an encouraging smile. Eric sat back in his chair, aloof, having already decided it didn’t matter what Russell presented him. His decision on attending the ball had already been made.

I heard the tinkling of a piano intro and recognized that this was not the same music I had rehearsed yesterday. I wonder why they changed it? It didn’t matter. I knew this song as well. Still, I was briefly taken aback. I covered my surprise by closing my eyes and moving my body to the rhythm before opening them to stare directly over to Eric. She was here to sing to him after all.

When I stared into those eyes all my worry melted away. I felt so much trust in his gaze, it gave me confidence. The music was seductive; I felt the energy and heat from it in my core. He was leaning forward slightly now as he prepared to listen. I pushed that energy into my voice and projected it across the room to the man sitting next to the throne.

My voice dripped with temptation as I began to sing.

I put a spell on you

Because you’re mine

You better stop the things you doin’

I tell ya I ain’t lyin’

I ain’t lyin’

You know I can’t stand it

You’re runnin’ around

You know better daddy

I can’t stand it ’cause you put me down

Oh no

I put a spell on you

Because you’re mine, oh

The instrumental interlude played and I gazed around the room. Most of the audience was moving their bodies to the rhythm of the drumbeat. I could see eyes closing as the provocative music took hold of them. Fangs were on display around the room while others looked with heavy lids at their companions or me. Some had risen and were dancing in the middle of the room. I bit my lower lip invitingly and held it between my teeth as my feet and hips moved with the beat.

I wondered very briefly if all of the ‘vampires’ had been directed or if this was the visceral response they had taken on, ad-libbing in the moment. I knew if I had been given a set of fangs, they would have dropped by now too. I didn’t waste much time on those thoughts as my voice made love to the room. This was the perfect song for the dark and sensuous atmosphere the scene had moved into.

You know I can’t stand it

You’re runnin’ around

You know better daddy

I can’t stand it ’cause you put me down

Oh no

I put a spell on you

Because you’re mine

My eyes closed unconsciously as I felt the palpable vibrations of the room take over my body. When I opened them again, Eric was staring at me with a hungry look in his eyes while raking them over my body. I pushed the words into him.

You know I love you

I love you

I love you

I love you anyhow

And I don’t care if you don’t want me!

I’m yours right now

I put a spell on you

Because you’re mine

Because you’re mine

Because you’re mine

Oh yeah

It was silent in the room when the song ended and the music faded away. I was flushed from my performance, and blushing from the look the Sheriff was giving me. The silence was broken when Russell applauded like a kid in a candy store.

“That was magnificent, my dear. I find myself quite titillated!” Russell announced.

“As am I, Majesty. In fact, I believe I will accept your gracious invitation as you have brought such a unique…creature to me,” he stated, his eyes never leaving me. There was that word again!

“Splendid!” Russell said enlivened, clasping his hands together.

“Will she proffer another?” Eric requested of Russell, still watching me.

“Now, Eric, I know I brought her for your entertainment, but let’s not spoil ourselves, shall we? As you can see, that performance enervated her. I suspect it is your presence that solicited such a response, as I’d hoped. I suspect she is quite parched,” he replied.

“Of course, she looks as though she could use refreshment.”

I noticed Pam by the door when Eric looked to her. I don’t know when she returned, or how he even knew she was there. My attention had been elsewhere throughout my performance and his attention had been on me.

“Pamela, retrieve her and bring her to me,” Eric stated.

Pam rolled her eyes, but did as she was told and approached the stage. She held her hand out to me this time, and I paused, looking at it.

“It’s quite all right, my little songbird. She won’t bite if she knows what’s good for her,” offered Russell.

“Unless you want me to,” Pam said quietly, licking her lips.

She was looking at me differently. I didn’t see the disdain on her face that she usually held for me. Her face conveyed the same look I had seen on the others in the last few nights, curiosity and intrigue, but there was something else in her eyes…desire? What the hell?

“No, thank you,” I said sweetly, and took her hand.

She guided me down the step from the platform, and led me to the dais before releasing my hand. She bowed to the King and her Maker.

“What libation would wet your whistle, my dear?” inquired Russell.

I thought for a moment. I had not anticipated ad-libbing any lines, but I went with it.

“Vodka tonic with a twist,” I replied.

“Buttercup, please fetch my little bird her request,” Russell stated to Pam.

“Yes, Majesty,” she again bowed her head and walked to the bar.

“Join us,” Russell said to me, gesturing to the chair to the left of the throne.

I hadn’t seen a chair placed there, but there it was. A waitress returned with my drink and when I looked for Pam, I saw her still next to the bar, watching the three of us. I took the drink and sipped it slowly. What the hell? It really was a vodka tonic! I had expected water. We were filming after all!

“What do you call her, Russell?” Eric asked, looking at him for the first time.

“I call her my little songbird. Her name, however… Actually, I don’t know. I never thought to ask!” Russell laughed and looked to me expectantly. Oh hell!

“Madrigal,” I pulled out of thin air. Thank God I was good at improvisation! How many more lines would I need to make up?

Russell smiled at me approvingly.

“Very fitting, a vocal music composition,” Eric stated.

“Brilliant!” Russell exclaimed, clearly pleased with my choice.

“I accept your gift and will attend the masquerade.”

That was the end of my ad-libbing, fortunately. The scene continued between the two of them discussing the details of the ball and the arrangements that needed making. Eric was to leave Pam in charge at Fangtasia while he traveled to the event. Apparently, Madrigal would also be there though it wasn’t mentioned in what capacity. I wondered if I would be singing again. I wondered if I would get to see a damn script!

While they spoke in continuation with the scene, I looked around the room and noticed Pam again. She was looking at me in that same way as earlier. Her head was cocked slightly to the side as if she was concentrating on something. I didn’t know what to make of her less-bitchy attitude toward me, but I wasn’t going to stir the pot. Then she frowned, clearly frustrated and looked away. Aaand there she is, the bitch was back!

I thought of Maggie telling me she was going to ‘figure me out’. I didn’t know what that meant, but it seemed to be that everyone was trying to ‘figure me out’. I was relieved she had looked away. I was beginning to feel uncomfortable, on display under her intense gaze.

I glanced at JP. He was sitting at his table, sipping a drink, and laughing. There was a man at his table, a man with fangs. Oh yes, I forgot his character was a blood whore. They seemed quite friendly and flirty. I guessed he was having the time of his life in this scene. His companion was cute in his all black attire that almost matched JP’s.

I was brought out of my internal revelry at his situation when I heard the director call “Cut!”

“Will we be doing another take?” I asked the men sitting on the dais with me.

“No. I believe one was sufficient,” said Eric.

“Sufficient? You say that as if it were only satisfactory. It was perfect! I doubt you could recapture the feeling that you created with your voice, my dear!” Russell complimented me.

“Yes, yes she could. She does it every time she sings,” Eric said quite seriously to Russell who then looked at me with curiosity.

I had more than enough puzzling looks for one night. If we were finished, I wanted to change and wash my face.

“That’s a wrap for tonight, everyone,” Alcee called out.

Everyone began milling out the door and immediately the crew was tearing down the equipment.

“Do you happen to know if your friend is busy the rest of the evening?” Russell asked me.

“I don’t know, but here he comes. You can ask him,” I said, winking.

JP was walking toward the dais. Russell looked at him, and then to me.

“I believe I will,” he said as he stepped down to meet JP.

They walked several steps away from everyone else. I watched as the two of them spoke. JP glanced back at me with a wide grin on his face. He pointed to me and made a motion with his hand of turning a key. I nodded, gave him a ‘thumbs up,’ and watched them leave together. He was so the smitten kitten!

~~~
Eric had remained seated watching them as well. He had a smirk on his face. I stood to go. As I passed by him, he took my hand. I stopped and looked down where our hands were joined. He stood to his full height without letting go. He was still five inches taller than me, even in my heels, and I had to look up.
“They are good together,” he stated, gesturing his head in the direction they had gone.
“Well, I don’t know about that, but they both seem to be teasing flirts. I enjoy seeing him happy. I think a little fling with an out-of-towner would be fun.”
“Do you?” he said, a little too suggestively.
“For him! I think a fling would be fun for him!” I said, trying to take back my Freudian slip.
“Of course,” he said, raising one eyebrow with a half smirk.
I had no words. This was uncharted territory. Don’t get me wrong, it was not uncharted in my personal fantasyland, but he had not openly flirted with me. At least I didn’t remember that he had. Well, he did say that thing about my ‘undergarments’, but that wasn’t flirting, right? He was teasing me, and any interaction while we filmed was acting.
I realized he was still holding my hand and no one was around… Again.
I started moving to step down off the dais, attempting to disengage from him. He, however, walked right along with me. When we stepped onto the floor, I stopped and looked up at him again. He was right in front of me.
“Um, I’m going to go get out of my dress,” I said quickly.
“Really?” he drawled out.
Hello mouth, meet foot! Apparently, you don’t know each other well enough, which is amazing, since you’ve spent so much fucking time together lately!
“I meant I’m going to go change into other clothes, my regular clothes. You know, since we’re finished for the night,” I mumbled.
“As am I,” he responded.
“Um, OK.”
Neither of us changed position for a long moment.
“Well, here I go,” I said, still not moving.
“I thought there would be more motion,” he said in a teasing voice.
“What?” I asked.
“You said you are leaving, but you have not moved yet,” he said with his crooked smile.
“Oh…uh, yeah…I didn’t…I mean, I am…I’m going,” I stuttered.
“All right, then so shall I.”
I stepped back and slid my hand from his. He let me. My hand felt empty where it had been completely encompassed mere seconds ago. I turned and started walking toward the doorway again, and he walked alongside of me.
“What are you doing?” I said, stopping again.
“What do you mean?” he asked, stopping as well.
“I mean, I’m going to change. Are you coming along with me, because it seems like you’re following me.”
He laughed at that.
“No, I am not following you. I need to go this way as well,” he replied, still chuckling.
“Oh.” Dumbass!
“However, I would be honored to escort you to the other building, if you wish. It appears we are alone, but I recall someone was outside when we were speaking the other night.”
I’d forgotten about that. His words sent a chill up my spine. Come to think of it, I hadn’t seen Tray since that night.
“Oh. Thanks.”
“Not at all, shall we?”
He reached down and looped my arm through his as if we were taking a Sunday stroll through the park. It was both comforting and confusing. We walked out of the tavern together. It was like a ghost town. How did everyone keep disappearing so quickly? And why?
“I take it you are well?” he asked as we walked.
I looked at him perplexed.
“Your…coccyx,” he said, stifling another chuckle. Oh right. That word was hilarious last night. Right now, not so much.
“Um, yeah, it’s been fine since I woke up,” I said, blushing slightly.
“It appears the medical practitioners were incorrect in their assessment,” he said matter-of-factly.
“I guess, but it was weird. On my back there was…” I stopped mid-sentence. Did I really want to tell him about my self-examination and whatever the hell that was on the washcloth earlier today? No, I did not.
“There was what?” he asked suddenly very interested in my next words.
“There was no bruise. It’s strange, don’t you think?” I recovered.
“Then it is true they did misdiagnose the situation,” he said, sounding somewhat relieved.
“Seems so,” I shrugged.
We reached the school and I turned to face him, releasing my arm from his.
“Thank you,” I said sincerely.
“It was my pleasure.”
“So, I guess maybe we’ll talk another time?”
“Certainly.”
“OK. Thanks again.”
“You are quite welcome, Chelsea,” he smiled warmly.
I turned and opened the door. He waited until I had entered the building before he left.
~~~

There was no one in the school. The lights were on in the hallway, but not in the rooms. I found it very unsettling to be alone there. It couldn’t have been very long since everyone had left. I was glad Eric had walked me here, but now I wished I had asked him to stay. I felt another chill go up my spine. The further I walked down the hallway, the creepier the atmosphere became.

I scurried down the hall to my ‘dressing room’. I opened the door quietly, and reached my arm in, feeling around for a light switch. When I didn’t find one, I stepped further into the room. The door closed behind me. There was no window to the hall in the door. The only illumination in the room was the light from the full moon coming through the windows and a small sliver of light coming from under the door. It was eerily quiet while I moved along the wall feeling with my hand. The only sound was that of my shoes clicking along the concrete floor. Jesus, where is the fucking light?

I could see only a little as my eyes adjusted to the moonlight. I saw the shape of my bag against the wall. I decided I didn’t want to spend any more time in there than necessary, so I gave up my search of the light switch and headed for my bag. I knew I had taken my costume home the night before, but it had been ruined already, and I didn’t think Maria-Star would appreciate me taking another one home again.

I could see the clothing rack next to where I had left my bag. I made a beeline for it clicking all the way there. The room seemed much bigger than it had before, and I found myself looking around continuously as I began to frantically unbutton the front of my dress. Finally getting it open, I let it drop to the floor and stepped out of it. I felt along the rack searching for a hanger. Eureka! I bent down and gathered up the dress, reaching inside the bust for the satin loops to hook it on the hanger when I heard a noise.

I stopped breathing. All I could think about was what Eric had said about us being watched the other night. Was I sure it was Tray? No, I was not. What if it hadn’t been? What if there was someone else? Someone I didn’t know? What if they had been watching me again tonight and were outside right now waiting?

Silently, I hung the dress back on the rack and crouched down to unlace my boots as quietly as I could. I listened. I couldn’t tell if the noise had come from inside or outside the building, but at least it came from outside of the room, whatever it was. After what seemed like a very long time, I didn’t hear anything else and exhaled quietly.

I sat down on the floor to remove my boots, chastising myself for getting so worked up. I quietly laughed and rolled my eyes at my overreaction. No one was here. Nothing was outside. No bogeyman was going to get me!

I set the boots under the clothing rack and reached for my bag. I found my sneakers and yoga pants and slipped them on. I reached into the bag, took out my tee shirt, and pulled it over my head before standing up. Then I remembered the bracelet that Maria-Star had placed on my arm! I couldn’t remove it from under the sleeve, so I had to remove the shirt again. Once it was off, I slid the bracelet down my arm when I heard another unidentifiable sound. What was that? Growling?

I stood still again, clutching my shirt to my chest. I tried not to breathe, but I could feel my chest heaving. It fell silent again.

Now the only noise to be heard was that of my heartbeat that had quickened to lightning speed. I reached over with a shaky hand to hang the bracelet onto the end of the rack when it slipped from my fingers and fell to the floor with a metal tinkling sound that, to my ears, sounded like symbols crashing together while they spun and settled on the floor. The sound of it hitting the floor and disrupting the silence spurred my feet into action, and I sprinted for the door.

Just as I grasped the handle, panting heavily and nearing hysteria, the light under the door went out. I looked down, but I had already been pulling on the door and it was too late to stop! I flung the door the rest of the way open and ran as fast as I could down the blackened hallway toward the door to the outside, the door to freedom. I felt like I was in a nightmare! When did this hallway get so fucking long?

I skidded to a halt when I heard it again somewhere in front of me. Yes, definitely growling!

I had no idea what to do. I stood stock still trying to think. On the one hand, I could make another run for it. The moonlight was on the other side of the building, and I couldn’t see anything outside the small windows on the front of the building and I had no idea how far in front of me, whatever it was, was. On the other hand, I could turn around and run back into the room, but there were no exits. I would be trapped there. Then I pulled my head out of my ass and remembered a third option.

I turned to the right and took off at a run. I barreled through a door there that led to the staircase. If I could get upstairs, I could find the window to the fire escape, and get out that way! I didn’t stop to listen. I didn’t stop to see if I was being pursued. I didn’t stop to try to figure out what the fuck it was. I just ran.

Once I reached the second floor, I frantically went to each window looking out for the ladder. I finally found it and pulled, but the window was jammed! I heard more noises downstairs, scratching on the door I had escaped through, still I continued to try to open the window with renewed vigor, but the building hadn’t been used for such a long time that the wood had swollen it shut. Fuck me!

Now I knew I had to get back to the stairs and to the third floor! I really, really, did not want to go back to the stairs. I stayed still for a split second trying to think of any other options. There were none. I tiptoed back to the door for the stairs and listened. I could still hear scratching, but then it stopped and I slowly, silently, opened the door. I crept out like a ninja and started easing myself up the staircase. I was about halfway up when I heard the door on the first floor start to creak open. What the fuck? I thought it was an animal! How did whatever the fucking thing was open a latched door?

My feet flew up the stairs, using my arms to propel faster. I reached the third floor, and slammed the door shut behind me. I looked around to try and find something to brace in front of it, but when I saw nothing within my immediate grasp, I abandoned the idea and ran for the window leading to the fire escape.

I heard the cry of an animal, and then a grunt followed by a thud or several, almost as if my pursuer had slipped and fallen down the stairs, but my mind barely registered it as I flung open the window nearly shattering it with the force, the glass vibrating against the pane.

I climbed outside onto the ladder and reached back to close the window. I don’t know why, it just seemed the right thing to do. At the same moment, an arm reached through the window and grabbed onto mine! I screamed hysterically, losing my balance on the ladder when I reached over to try and pry the hand off me. I don’t know if it was the deafening pitch or the abruptness of my scream that startled the would-be attacker, but suddenly, the hand was gone and I was falling!

    Wow. I’m thinking that Pam was trying to glamour her again. That chase scene at the end was really intense. This chapter and the story is really good.

    That Pam is sneaky! She tried to glamour her. I wonder why she can’t be glamoured and why she makes everyone feel so much when she sings. The end was tense, man! I hope she makes it out okay. Yikes!

    The final scene where Cricket was alll alone and someone or something was after her gave me goosebumps…
    I guess next time Cricket will ask Eric to wait for her!

    Love Russell! Pam needs to learn her place and trying to glamour Cricket isn’t going to help. I hope it was Eric that is there to save her and still can even though she is falling. Have a feeling it was Trey in the building with her and of course it was a full moon!

    I think you have TB bitch…oops, I mean Pam down pat. Jealousy looks about as good on a vampire as it does on a human. Green is NOT her colour!
    I can’t wait to see what they do with Cricket the next day/night 🙂

  7. Woooo, exciting things are happening! Seems to me that a certain tall and blonde vampire will be there to assist our girl, yes?

    Strange things are happening…. and I can’t wait to see what they all mean.

    Cricket and Russell together are interesting. They add a bit of humor and have a good way of playing off each other. She’s managed to intrigue pretty much everyone, even Pam in her own surly way. Excited to find out if there is more to her.

      I like Russell quite a bit in this. He’s having fun with Eric, Cricket and JP and enjoys needling Pam a little, too. “Buttercup”
      Yes, Cricket does to be the little enigma of this story. LOL
      Thanks for reading!

    Russell is just a hoot!! Since its a full moon out, I wonder which Were is stalking her. And I’m sure her rescuer will turn out to be Eric – I think. 🙂

    Ooh Eric will have to blow his cover as Alex and fly to save her…. Loved the action / terror of the chase scene. It was expertly written.
